23rd June - Upon call
of the State Commitee of Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI), massive
demonstratins were organised today at Baba Bakala, Samana, Nakodar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Nawan Shehar, Koom Kalan, Mansa, Abohar, Sri Mukatsar Sahib
tehsil headquarters. Despite peak paddy season , the toiling masses of the
state, participated in large numbers everywhere in these actions. The
participation of women and youth was noteworthy. Started from June 19th, these
protest actions were culminated today . The call of these demonstrations was
given against countrywide rising atrocities against dalits on the basis of
upper caste chauvinism, planned communal voilence against minorities,
especially against Muslims by the goons backed by RSS and openly sheltered by
Modi Govt., gender discrimination and
physical asaults against women. The demand of fulfiling election promises made
by BJP and Congress to win the elections of Parliament and Punjab Assembly was
another feature of these protest actions. These impressive gatherings were
addressed by Comrade Mangat Ram Pasla General Secratary RMPI, along with other
prominent leaders.
